Tasos Dagiuklas received the Engineering Degree from the University of Patras-Greece in 1989, the M.Sc. from the University of Manchester-UK in 1991 and the Ph.D. from the University of Essex-UK in 1995, all in Electrical Engineering. Leading the CAA’s Regulatory Lab team which looks to develop regulatory responses to new and emerging challenges in the aviation sector- particularly in the form of new technologies and business models.

Background:

I obtained an MA in politics and an LLB and a PGD in Law from the University of Glasgow before moving to Leiden University in the Netherlands and gaining an and an LLM in law (specialising in International Law). During that time I worked as part of the prosecution team on the first war crimes case against a Head of State. When I returned to the UK I qualified as a solicitor with a major commercial law firm in Scotland. After spending two years working on regulatory law and litigations in a range of different sectors I moved to London to work for a boutique firm specialised in international litigation. I then joined the Commonwealth Secretariat where I spent two years advising member states on how to respond to new trends in cyber crime and security including drafting legislation and regulations. This meant a lot of travelling around the member states but also representing the Commonwealth at UN, Council of Europe and EU meetings. I then moved to the body responsible for internet infrastructure (ICANN) before joining the CAA. I’ve been here for two and a half years working mostly on innovation related topics such as drones and cyber security before eventually leading our bid to the Regulators’ Pioneer Fund for support to setup the Innovation Hub.

David is head of innovation and Strategy at Franklin Energy, in addition to working on a wide range of projects in the Transport and Technology arena, including Autonomous vehicle development and deployment, Franchise Bids, Supplier assessments and assurance for programs and Program delivery.

He successfully managed the CIO function for Transport for Greater Manchester and was a key part of the creation of TfGM to include the strategic Highways activity for Greater Manchester. David led the programs for High Speed Broadband rollout across Greater Manchester, Wi-Fi on the tram fleet, the development of the Environmental strategy for the authority, installation of Electric Vehicle charging points across GM, new Traffic Signals and controllers across the Highways network, Smart Ticketing and the development of Passenger and operational information systems.

David has served on the Automotive Council Technology group, the European and International Program Committees for the ITS World Congress, DfT expert panel for Strategic road development and as an assessor for Innovation UK on Intelligent mobility and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles. David is a moderator and speaker at international conferences on a wide range of subjects including Autonomous and Connected vehicles, Air quality management for Transport and Smart ticketing and customer information.

Head of UK, Airbus Urban Mobility

Harini Kulatunga is Head of Airbus Urban Mobility in the United Kingdom. In this role, she steers the development of urban air mobility customer solutions to meet market requirements. Previously, Harini worked in Airbus’ Unmanned Aerial Systems program line as Head of Future Solutions. She has a strong scientific research background, and was previously in the office of the Chief Technology Officer at BP. There she worked on ideation then adoption of emerging technologies and subsequently on scaling digital technologies to bring operational efficiencies, increased safety, and cost reduction to front-line business units. She holds a PhD in Signal Processing from the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at University of Sheffield, United Kingdom and a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering the Birla Institute of Technology, India.

Head of ATM, Altitude Angel
Philip Binks joined Altitude Angel May of 2018 to take up the newly created position of Head of Air Traffic Management.

Previously, Philip worked for the UK’s largest ANSP, NATS where he held the position of RPAS Domain Expert and Solution Architect. In this role he was the focal point for all RPAS activities. In addition, Philip supported several high-profile programmes such as the UK’s Pathfinder programme, the Industry Action Group, and held a seat on the ICAO RPAS Panel.

Having begun his career in aviation as an Air Traffic Controller for the RAF, Philip has an unrivalled knowledge of ATM and airspace, and understands the complexities of integrating drones safely into our airspace.

Mark Herring leads the Strategy function for National Grid System Operator. Prior to this he was Head of Innovation for the System Operator, and has experience in rapidly transforming organisations and industry across the globe.

His current work combines an understanding of the long term uncertainty in the energy industry through the Future Energy Scenarios, with its application in informing the long term direction of industry, policy, and the GB System Operator. Adam is the co-founder & CEO of PeddleSmart, the manufacturer of the FlexiQuad, the sustainable, zero-carbon, battery assisted, pedal vehicle for delivery and personal transportation. He is an experienced businessperson and over the last 30 years has supported multi-national technology corporations with skills to manage change, transition & transformation. Adam helped launch PeddleSmart in 2013, helping fund the product roadmap, market research and business development, before joining the business full-time at the start of 2019.

Adam is driven by personal experience to support the disadvantaged community. It is this passion that inspired the employment of those with barriers to work. He is 54 years old and has two grown up children and a disabled grandchild. Marcus (Adam’s son) has made the move to Scotland and leads business development. Paul Hodgins is Co-founder and CEO of Ginger, a British shared transport operator of micro EVs, currently e-scooters and e-cargo bikes. Paul brings diverse experience to the . He was in telecoms and consumer electronics for over 15 years, most recently in product, operational, and B2B roles for Virgin Media. Paul has also been a local government councillor for 13 years and was Leader of Richmond Council in London, and therefore understands the practical challenges in bringing about transport change. He's a strong believer in the environmental, social, and smart cities potential of smaller connected electric vehicles. He is a strong advocate and facilitator for the UK building a world leading tech ecosystem in modern urban, micro vehicle transport, despite current legislation having held the UK back to date.
